The Gospel Changes Everything

Here at City on a Hill Church, our desire is to be a healing community for a hurting world through the life changing hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  In other words, “It’s All About Jesus!”  We believe the Gospel is primarily “good news”, because we never earned it in the first place.  God graciously gave it to us in His mercy, and therefore, we never outgrow or graduate from it and constantly are being shaped by it as a family of Christ followers.

The Gospel according to the Bible is this:  Now I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you-unless you believed in vain.  For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received:  that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…(1st Corinthians 15:1-4 ESV).  For by grace you have been saved through faith.  And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works,
so that no one may boast.  (Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV)

THE GOSPEL IS A PLAN
Jesus, the Son of God, accomplished salvation for us “according to the Scriptures” prepared beforehand.

THE GOSPEL IS AN EVENT
Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and risen according to the plan.

THE GOSPEL IS AN ACHIEVEMENT
Through the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, the just penalty of God’s holy anger against sin was paid for and the righteousness of God completed.

THE GOSPEL IS AN OFFER
Salvation in Jesus Christ is freely offered by grace and not of any works we must do.

THE GOSPEL IS AN APPLICATION
The gift of salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone which declares you are justified and forgiven in Him.

GOD IS THE GOSPEL
We are forgiven and justified in order to bring us to God so that we may treasure and enjoy Him forever through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Faith

If you are desiring to repent from your sins, place your faith in Jesus Christ, and surrender your life to Him, know that the Bible says, "...if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."  (Romans 8:9-10)
The ability to believe and receive so great a salvation is a gift from God according to (Ephesians 2:8-10).  Moreover, you can rejoice knowing that when you struggle in this life, you will never walk through it alone, because God promises in His Word, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
(Hebrews 13:5)

Baptism

The Bible says that all professing Christians should be baptized (Matthew 28:18-20). Whether you've been following Jesus for a long time and never got baptized or are a new Christian, we would be honored to baptize you!
